Condition: Very good condition. Dust Jacket Condition: None. Inyo County Writs of Execution and Location Certificates from the Early 20th Century. A set of legal documents and prospectus that all seemed to have passed through the Inyo County Sheriff's office from 1906-1931. The set includes a total of 16 court or legal documents with many of them 2-3 pages and few much longer. Legal documents have legible handwriting filling in the printed or typed document with signatures of the sheriff, deputy sheriff, recorder or witnesses on all documents (except the 2 prospectus). Documents with multiple pages are held together with staples. Some have the seal of the Inyo County Superior Court or the County Recorder. Except for one prospectus and the newspaper clipping, all documents measure 8.5 x 14 inches. Documents have minor soiling, creasing or toning, and newspaper clipped has heavy wear. Overall very good condition. Set includes: eleven legal documents regarding writs of execution, dated from 1909 to 1931, most are from the 1910s; one newspaper clipping of the 1902 election returns from the newspaper "The Independent" out of Independence, California; two printed prospectus for the Reorganized Victory Divide Mining Company dated to 1927; two legal documents certifying the location of mining properties from 1906 and 1920. A writ of execution is a court order to a sheriff or constable to seize and sell non-exempt property owned by the judgment debtor in order to pay the judgment creditor. Five of the eleven writs of execution regard the sale of mining claims of the Inyo Bunker Hill Mine Company (1923), Southwestern Lead Corporation (1930), Keynote Mine and Milling Company (1906), Death Valley Big Bell Mining Company (1911), and the Saline Valley Salt Company (1918). These were sold to various individuals or corporations. Mining claims with location certificates include the Iron Dyke Mining Claim in the Greenwater Mining District (1906) and the Quartz/Moon Beam mining claim (1920). This set is a real treasure trove of Inyo County history with a lot of great primary sources for the sale and transfer of property in the area.
