Illustrated historical novel by Ion Idriess based on the true story of Barbara Thomson, a white woman who was the sole survivor of a shipwreck and was raised by Coral Sea islanders, before being rescued in 1849. Following book was The Wild White Man of Badu.

Fictionalised story of Barbara Thompson (c1831-1912), wrecked on the cutter America, off Entrance Island in 1844 and of her rescue by Boroto and acceptance by Piaquai, chief of Kowraregas (Kaurareg People), as his reincarnated daughter; her life as a member of the tribe. She was rescued by Captain Owen Stanley and HMS Rattlesnake in 1849. (Trove).

HARDCOVER. 1947, First edition. A very good copy in orange boards with black lettering on the spine. The spine and rear board are foxed and the spine is lightly sunfaded. The top edge is spotted. Apart from a gift inscription on the half title page the contents are fine and unmarked.
