The first few pages (up to VIII) are somewhat damaged at the gutters (without loss) and most of Page III/IV has been torn off. SOFTCOVER. The Official Tourist Bureau Weltevreden, 1926. Third edition. A very good copy only marked by very light spotting on the edges and some occasional red ink marks in the text. Otherwise the contents are nice and bright and has the folding map, index and a bookmark for the Java Tourist Bureau tipped in. This copy comes complete with the very rare original d/w with is in good condition with some edge loss and short tears. Now in a protective cover. Scans available if required.

The Preanger Recencies was an administrative region of Western Java centred on the major city of Bandung, and was an area with much tea and tapioca production. Errata slip tipped in. Contains the following maps: Buitenzorg - Sindanglaya - Soekaboemi (36 x 43 cm., includes an inset map of Soeka Boemi); Central Java (37 x 60 cm.); Bandoeng - Garoet (37 x 60 cm.). At the end of the nineteenth century until the beginning of the twentieth century, International tourists have begun visiting the Dutch East Indies and Malaya. Therefore, guidebooks about the Dutch East Indies and Malaya were published for travellers and tourists. Guidebooks provide various information not only about the objects that can be visited, but also about natural scenery, peoples, culinary, flora, fauna, and customs in the regions. They presented in a long narrative and practical text with illustrations. The illustrations in the Indies' tourist guidebooks are more varied and accentuate nature and culture compared to Malaya's guidebooks. Both of them presented exotics objects with the aim to attract western tourists in particular.
