Illuminated vignette and title page. Using unique motifs from the architecture of Jerusalem acclaimed Israeli artist Yael Hershberg has drawn on a wide range of biblical and rabbinic sources to illustrate in 62 magnificent and vibrantly colored gold-leaf-illuminations new motifs that bring the Passover saga to a high level of artistic inspiration. This work also contains two stunning micrograph plates which utilize minute Hebrew letters to form representational designs depicting the Lion of Judah and a view of Jerusalem. The artistic representation of Izzy Pludwinski's sensitively crafted letters superimposed over the backdrop of Jerusalem stone gateways evokes the beauty of a millenary tradition reflected through this architecture. Incorporating the full seder text as well as the Song of Songs, this stunning work is one of the most ambitious Haggadah projects ever made. It is published with a unique companion volume by Judaica authority Dr. Marc Michael Epstein and highlighted with stunning b/w photographs by Jerusalem photographer Oded Antman. The photographs depict the actual buildings alongside plates of the extraordinary illuminations they inspired. This Haggadah truly provides a new way of seeing the city that embodies so much of the heritage and the hope conveyed by the Passover seder, culminating in its fervent, ageless prayer "Next year in Jerusalem." Text volume in English, Haggadah in Hebrew. Slipcase lightly bumped along the top edge. Bindings with minor abrasions to the leather near the head of the spine and top of the covers, professionally restored. Slipcase in very good+, bindings in very good to very good+, interiors in.
