Brossura. Condition: nuovo. 25pp. Estratto da "ORIENTALIA CHRISTIANA PERIODICA" 75 (2009). Punto metallico -- This article traces the history of the Palm Sunday procession from Jerusalem to Constantinople. The major manuscripts of the respective liturgical traditions are analyzed and presented in order to elucidate patterns and principles of worship. The article outlines the shift in timing from a Sunday afternoon service to a Sunday morning service with attention to possible monastic influence. It also raises questions regarding historicization, dramatization, and mimesis in the liturgy.

No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Sheet 40.5 x 30.5 cm (15-15/16 x 11-15/16 in.), trimmed slightly on bottom edge, perhaps also on top edge, retaining sewing pricks and binding paste on gutter edge and edge soil on fore-edge. Rubricated Northern Textualis quadratic script in black, blue and red ink, the black faded passim to brown; square-note notation on nine 4-line staves per page in red with siglia and directions in red. 6-line blue and red initial "D" historiated with Jesus's entry into Jerusalem; five 4-line initials in black highlighted with red, with pen work decoration (4 inhabited with facial profiles); 4-line blue and red decorated initial "T." Page numbers xlvii and xlviii inserted bottom center, 47 and 48 top fore-edge, in old ink. Installed in a double-sided frame. Provenance: Vladimir G. Simkhovitch (1874-1959), and by descent. The historiated initial "D" on the recto, preceded by words from the responsory "Ingrediente domino--" and by the associated versicle "Cumque audissent-- Cum ramis" and repeat "De ore leonis--," begins the introit from the Latin Liber Psalmorum 21, adapted from verses 20 and 22: "Domine ne longe facias | auxilium tuum a me ad | defensionem meam aspice libe | ra me de ore leonis et a cor || nibus unicornium humilita | tem meam." On the verso the first versicle, "Deus deus me | us respice in me quare me dereli | quisti," is taken from the opening of Psalm 21, which heads the Proper for the Carolingian Mass of Palm Sunday (Dominica in Palmis). Thus Jesus is shown entering the gate of Jerusalem on his donkey. The decorated initial "T" on the verso begins the gradual from Psalm 72, again for Palm Sunday: "Tenuisti manum | dexteram meam involun | tate tu a deduxisti me | et cum gloria assump | sisti me." The trailing versicle is the first verse of Psalm 72: "Quam bo | nus israhel deus ||--." The historiation in the letter "D" is distinctly Byzantine in the stylized outlines of the face, hands and drapery of Jesus and the body of the horse, and the elongated rounded arch of the gate with its narrow window and rounded top. A telling antecedent can be seen in the south wall fresco, the Entry to Jerusalem, in the nave of the Basilica of Sant'Angelo in Formis, in Capua in the Campania. The frescos of the Basilica, executed by several hands very soon after 1072, can be considered a first union of Byzantine style with the birth of new Italian painting. A terminus ad quem may be the rise of Giotto, whose own fresco of the Entry ca. 1305-6 in the Arena (Scrovegini) Chapel, Padua, presages the Renaissance with its new sophistication of space, volume and perspective. This sheet presents abundant individualities, including the unusual frond-like horizontal extenders of the historiated initial, the shape and pen work of the blue-red capital on the verso and of the other capitals with their inhabiting faces, the minims of the script and eccentricities and embellishments in the content and style. Still, no clue to the parent volume has yet been found. The Simkhovitch attribution places the sheet in Bohemia in the 13th century. A better generalization might be that the square notation migrated from Lorraine into the scriptoria spanning Salem to Regensburg or Melk, while the Byzantine style of the historiation may have arrived from or through the southern scriptoria of the Veneto or Emilia-Romagna. The notation of the sheet is not "Bohemian" or "Czech," but the parent volume, even if produced elsewhere, could certainly have once been located or even decorated in Bohemia, where several Franciscan and Dominican foundations in the early 13th century established significant libraries. The sheet can be compared generally, for example, with an antiphoner fragment (Hauptstaatsarchiv Stuttgart, J 522 E III 421; Fragmentarium F-zk8g) from the Prämonstratenserkloster in Weissenau, southeast Germany, dated to ca. 1300, and with the Burns antiphonal at Boston College (MS. 1996.07, digitized online), ascribed to southern Germany soon before 1300.

He experienced the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, on what is now known as Palm Sunday. In a very brief stay, he was given the ability to read and speak all languages. Returning to his own bed, he was in shock when he awoke and realized that it had not been a dream. He met and joined forces with two others who had a parallel experience. They were the only apparent opposition to an evil super genius, who had charmed most people, and who was well along in his intent to be their ruler.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Golden Gate, as it is called in Christian literature, is the oldest of the current gates in Jerusalem's Old City Walls. According to Jewish tradition, the Shekhinah ( ) (Divine Presence) used to appear through this gate, and will appear again when the Messiah comes (Ezekiel 44:1 3) and a new gate replaces the present one; that is why Jews used to pray for mercy at the former gate at this location. Hence the name Sha'ar Harachamim ( ), the Gate of Mercy. In Christian apocryphal texts, the gate was the scene of a meeting between the parents of Mary, so that Joachim and Anne Meeting at the Golden Gate became a standard subject in cycles depicting the Life of the Virgin. It is also said that Jesus passed through this gate on Palm Sunday. In Arabic, it is known as the Gate of Eternal Life. In ancient times, the gate was known as the Beautiful Gate.
