Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Limited Edition. DESCRIPTION: Small folio, stiff paper wrappers with printed heavy paper outer wrapper; publisher's cloth slipcase. 34 pp. plus colophon/terminal leaves. A handsome private-press production of Amy Clampitt's poetic meditation on John Keats, printed by The Sarabande Press. One of 2…50 copies letterpress printed from handset type on dampened Johannot paper, with design by Joe Marc Freedman and display lettering by G. G. Laurens. This copy is signed by Amy Clampitt on the colophon and additionally inscribed by her on the half-title: "For Ben Sonnenberg, for whose hospitality in print and in person I am so greatly beholden - with thanks and much affection - Amy Clampitt, 28 January 1985." Ben Sonnenberg was the founder/editor of Grand Street, where several of the poems in this collection first appeared. The dedication to Helen Vendler is also notable, as Vendler was a major modern critic of poetry and wrote extensively on lyric poetry and the Romantic tradition. The collection includes poems first appearing, under variant titles, in Grand Street, The Kenyon Review, New England Review, and The New Yorker. Dedication page reads "For Helen Vendler." A refined, tactile production with deckled/uncut edges, pale green display typography, and gilt-stamped title wrapper. Housed in the original cloth slipcase. CONDTION: Very good book in very good slipcase. Text clean and bright; signed colophon and presentation inscription both clear. Wrappers clean with light handling only, minor corner creasing/bumping visible at extremities. Binding sound. Publisher's cloth slipcase shows light rubbing and soiling, and modest wear at edges/corners, but remains solid and presentable. Please see the pictures. No dust jacket, as issued. Signed by Author(s).
