Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. First edition. Signed by Milan Kundera on the title page. 293, [3] pp. Bound in publisher's white cloth stamped in olive green and black; green topstain. Near Fine with lean to binding, light staining to cloth and minor toning to contents. In a Very Good+ unclipped dust jacket with crease and small tear to spine, toning and close tears to edges. Slight creasing to flaps with staining and rubbing to verso. The famous Czech author's first novel in its original language, scarce signed. While it was completed in 1965, publication was delayed by state censors for two years. It inspired a 1968 Czech New Wave film but then following the Prague Spring uprising and crackdown that same year it was banned outright.
