Driver), w…as an English Orientalist noted for his studies of Semitic languages and Assyriology. Basil Blackwell published their British edition in 1965. F. F. Bruce has a nice obituary in The Witness 105, No. 1255 (July. 1975): 266-267, which is searchable on the Web. Essentially, Driver took a minority position on the Dead Sea Scrolls. His analysis appears to have been overtaken by later scholarship, though GRD's erudition is such that this study still has important insights.
