Broadside newspaper published by Dutch anarchist group the Kabouters (Dutch for "Gnomes"), a loosely organized anarchist, environmentalist off-shoot of the Provo movement. Active in the late-1960s and early-1970s in the Netherlands, the countercultural Provo movement mobilized disaffected youth in situationist style happenings. The Provos staged provocative public performances that combined absurdist humor and civil disobedience, tactics also taken up by the Kabouters. Published from 19701971, the Kabouterkrant was the official "municipal journal" of the Orange Free State, a mythical anti-capitalist body meant to flourish as a separatist state within greater Dutch society. Issue 11 includes articles on an alternative plan for the Amsterdam subway and decolonization, as well as a feature on Nepal. Offset. 12pp. 9 x 12 1/2 in. (folded), 17 3/4 x 25 in. (unfolded). Text in Dutch. Very good; toning from age and patches of discoloration on cover and interior, light crease at fold, and edge wear.
