[80] pp. Small square 4to (122 x 122 mm.), orig. printed softcover with flaps, orig. printed dust-jacket, title on spine. Firenze & Lugo: Exempla & Exit & Zona Archives, 1988. A nice copy of this uncommon Sol LeWitt artist's book; one of 350 copies (of which 50 were signed by the artist). The receipt of a Kawara "I am still alive" telegram inspired LeWitt to formulate the "variations", for example: "I AM STILL ON KAWARA," "I AM ALIVE, ON KAWARA," "STILL, AM I ALIVE," "STILL, AM I ON?". These 74 sensical permutations were first printed (in English, German, and French) in the Studio International issue (1970 July-August) edited by Seth Siegelaub (1941-2013) and Lucy Lippard (b. 1937). Maurizio Nannucci (b. 1939) published this book under his Zona Archives imprint. It has a permutation per page, printed uppercase in a single line, some with commas or question marks added. In fine condition. ? Maffei & de Donno, Sol LeWitt Artist's Books (2009), p. 122 (pictured). Sol LeWitt: Libros, El concepto como arte (2014) 71. A.
