Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. KENYA BY NORMAN LEYS 1925 SECOND EDITION INTRODUCTION BY PROF. GILBERT MURRAY. This is a very thoughtful book, written at a time when the world order was buoyed by the establishment of the League of Nations and many of the seemingly intractable questions of statehood and development were receiving attention. It was also written at a time when, at least according to the Introduction: The rule of black by white appears to be for the present time, an absolute necessity. Please find then: Kenya by Norman Leys, with an Introduction by Prof. Gilbert Murray. This medium-sized but rather thick hard cover book (6 x 9 x 2 inches, 409 pages plus 4 pages of publisher s adverts) was published by Leonard & Virginia Woolf at The Hogarth Press of London, dated 1925, and the Second Edition (so stated). The book is bound in light red cloth with gilt titles on the spine. It is inscribed from the Author but not signed by Leys. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled with some loss of color, particularly on the back cover. The gilt on the spine is barely legible. The corners and spine tips are bumped but not excessively. Inside, the only mark I found is the Author s inscription on the front endpaper. There are some spots of soiling to the pages, particularly towards the front of the book but the interior pages otherwise are without toning or foxing. The page edges are spotted, probably tobacco smoke stain but no odor. Both hinges are intact but the binding is cracked elsewhere but still seems tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Language: ENG. Inscribed by Author(s).
