Item Description: Neyensech Printers, 1943. Hardcover. Book Condition: Used: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Jacket. First Edition stated. 1943 brown boards, 93pp. An exceptional copy In Dust Jacket. Book is as close to new as one could expect. No names, marking etc.internally. The illustrated dust jacket is unclipped, lightly foxed, has chipping at the corners and top of spine. Chipping is not egregious in my opinion with the worst being about a 1/2 inch triangle at top of spine. There is no lettering on the jacket spine so the chip has not removed any wording. Worn reading copies can be had much cheaper. But high qaulity first edition in jackets are hard to come by. -Quality Counts! All books shipped in Cardboard and all books with dust jackets have mylar jacket protectors., Bookseller Inventory # 120213002

Item Description: Barkus Horological Laboratories., San Diego, California., 1950. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good. 12mo - 18.5 x 13 cm.; 201 pp. Red / brown cloth over boards with intricate blind stampings on the front (lettering and art work) and a textured relief effect on the back. First published in 1943, completely revised and extended in 1948, and then corrected for the sixth printing with the inclusion of lessons for training with Hand Model Escapement. This reminds me of bringing my great grandfather's pocket watch in to a venerable old watch maker for repairs. He had a slight tremor or shake (perhaps a palsy) in his hands and with the watch opened up being held over a large cloth draped over a wooden frame, a small piece fell out as he was examining it. The cloth 'tray' was piled high with small pieces from other watches and the small piece from the watch in hand just blended in. I looked at him with questions in my eyes and he looked back saying "I really don't like it when that happens". Well, such is life . . . The books shows mild wear to the corners and spine tips. The paste down end papers are browned on the edges and this browning is offset onto the free end papers. The binding is cocked (spine lean) and is a tad shaken. Otherwise very clean and still quite solid in spite of all that I say. A clear and removable archival cover has been fitted. Bookseller Inventory # 20373

Item Description: Barkus Horological Laboratories, San Diego, CA, USA, 1950. Book Condition: Collectible. Limited. nFINE. Maroon deep blind embossed boards - showing an escapement mechanism. SIGNED by BOTH AUTHORS on second free endpaper. This book was gifted to the California Academy of Sciences Library in 1962 - plated inside front cover - by world renowned horologist and philanthropist Dr. W. Barclay Stephens (1869-1962), Honorary Curator of Horology of the Academy. Internally FINE copy of this scarce classic horological reference books with a totally unique provenance. Ltd printing of 2000 copies in this edition. RARE for all printings as signed by both authors, and unique as coming from Dr. W. Barclay Stephens, one of the founders of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. Dr Stephens was renowned in his field of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology medicine. It was his research into color that resulted in hospitals throughout the world adopting the use of light 'hospital' green painted walls, because he discovered that it gives the best interior brightness with the least visual glare (it was first applied at San Francisco's St Luke Hospital). This is a very special horological book. [B98-172]. Signed by Authors. Bookseller Inventory # 011636
