Book
Hardcover. Condition: Good. 426 pp. Tightly bound. Corners not bumped. Text is free of markings. No ownership markings. Published without dust jacket. Bound in dark blue cloth with gilt type face on the spine. PLEASE NOTE: There are two pages that have a tear along the right edge. The pages are in the beginning of the book in the section called "list of abbreviations". The right edge of pages ix-x and xi-xii each have a 1 1/2" tear. I repaired the tears with "filmoplast" paper mending tape. It is an extremely thin, self-adhesive transparent tape made precisely for this purpose. There is also a crease to these two pages. The book on the whole is very good, but due to these two edge tears and creases I have described the book as "good". This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.

ISBN-13: 9781584779438; ISBN-10: 1584779438. Robertson, A[gnes] J., Editor and Translator. The Laws of the Kings of England from Edmund to Henry I. Originally published: Cambridge: University Press, 1925. xiii, 426 pp. Reprinted 2009 by The Lawbook Exchange, Ltd. ISBN-13: 9781584779438; ISBN-10: 1584779438. Hardcover. New. $45. * This valuable compilation of English laws from the tenth to the eleventh century is a companion to Frederick Attenborough's Laws of the Earliest English Kings (1922), which is available as a Lawbook Exchange reprint. For all but two of the texts in this volume, Robertson consulted original manuscripts, most of them in the library of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. The laws are presented in their original language with English translations and detailed descriptions of their manuscript sources. First published in 1925, this volume remains an essential resource for legal studies of the late Anglo-Saxon and early Norman kings of England.
