Reliure pleine basane mouchetée de l'époque, dos à nerfs orné de caissons à fleurons dorés, tranches rouges (dos frotté avec pertes des ors, petit manque à la pièce de titre au dos, qqs. rousseurs éparses, déchirure à une page). Edition bilingue imprimée à Lyon de l'oeuvre la plus célèbre de ce poète et diplomate italien de la fin du XVIème siècle. Texte italien avec en regard, la traduction en vers de l'abbé Antoine de Torche. L'édition est illustrée de 6 belles gravures à pleines pages, non signée. Publiée en 1589, cette pastorale fut traduite et diffusée dans toute l'Europe, et connut un immense succès.

Volume in 16, brossura rigida, titolo al tassello in pelle al dorso, sguardie, antiporta incisa con scena allegorica ricca di putti e ghirlande (restauro rinforzante), frontespizio con bella marca tipografica, dedicatoria, avvertenze, prefazione, 12 cc., 539 pp., 5 tavole in rame comprese nella numerazione. Edizione bilingue del primissimo settecento (alla numerazione pari corrisponde il testo originale italiano, a fronte il testo della traduzione francese) Bella, minuscola ma curata composizione del capodopera guariniano, uno dei frutti migliori della poesia pastorale italiana, in una poco comune veste bilingue, vieppi arricchito dalla presenza di illustrazioni silografiche all'inizio d'ogni canto del Pastor fido, e da testatine, finalini e capilettera incisi su rame all'arabesco. Una mancanza all'angolino superiore della bianca iniziale, per il resto davvero minime ed ininfluenti mende d'uso. Grazioso esemplare. Piacevole e poco comune. Francese.

Italian and French parallel facing texts, engraved frontispiece and five plates after Abraham Blooteling; pp. [22], 573, [1]; 16mo. contemporary full calf, blind roll at board edges, spine gilt in compartments and lettered direct, speckled edges; leather a little scuffed and the lettering rather patchy. Parallel Italian and French edition of this classic work, translated by Antoine Torche (1631-1675). An unashamedly sensual pastoral drama, the most famous work of Guarini, the Italian court poet at Ferrara. It became a great favourite all across Europe, was widely imitated throughout the Baroque period and translated into a multitude of languages. It gave rise to two operas by Handel and one by Salieri, and many madrigals by Monteverdi are inspired by the figure of the shepherd Fido.

Edición bilingüe con el original italiano en las págs. pares y la traducción francesa en las impares de esta célebre obra, titulada en italiano Pastor Fido, una tragicomedia pastoril de un escritor italiano diplomático en la corte de los Este de Ferrara. La obra alcanzó una gran fama, fue muy imitada durante todo el período del barroco y traducida a multitud de lenguas occidentales y orientales. Su influencia dió origen a dos óperas de Händel y una de Salieri, y muchos madrigales de Monteverdi están inspirados en la figura del pastor Fido. El texto va acompañado de seis bellos grabados a toda página que son probablemente de Abraham Blooteling, firmados a veces como Blootel, Blotel o Bloote. Literatura italiana. Teatro italiano.
