Introduction by Tolstoy. Lib. indications are taped-down call mid spine; cancellation marker-dot upper page edges; institutional bookplate (Grosvenor, Buffalo) front pastedown; legal bookplate rear pastdown; pocket with non-circulating stamp rear free endpaper. Apart from lib distinctions, VG. Light rubbing with touches of surface loss to tips of corners and spimne ends with only mild touches of isolated rubbing to central cloth; cloth deeplly colored and gilt strong and bright. Binding tight and square with no play to hinges, though slight separation at bottom of pre-title page (page holding well). Strong shelving soil upper page edges only. Pages mildly toned but clean and unmarked.
