Old full leather with balck titel label. ?Contemporary armorial bookplate of Townley featuring their arms (Argent, on a fesse sable, a cinquefoil or, in chief three mullets of the second) in wreaths of flowers etc but not their name. From the library of Town Head House (Windermere). Some brown stains to edges of endpapers and first and last few leaves. Minor spine wear. Book is in very good minus condition with minor but noticeable signs of wear and/or age.

A Very Good + set. 12mo., [Vol.1] xxv, 216; [Vol.2] 215 pp., illustrated with an engraved title page in volume 1, and an engraved portrait frontispiece in volume 2. Bound in full calf, with title and design on the spine in gilt; single line rule on the boards. All edges marbled; end papers similarly marbled. Spines a little darkened. Moderate edge wear. Previous owner's neat signature on the title page of volume 1. Another previous owner's signature cut away from a blank end paper in vol. 2, the same end paper removed from vol. 1. Text lightly tanned, with the occasional minor blemish. Hinges and joints very secure. Letters of Junius (or Junius: Stat nominis umbra) is a collection of private and open letters critical of the government of King George III from an anonymous polemicist (Junius) claimed by some to be Philip Francis (although Junius' real identity has never been verified).
