2018 244 pages Gregorian Notation / 1 ribbon marker / English rubrics / hardback Our reprinted Liber Brevior was based on the 1954 original edition. That edition, however, did not include the restored Pope Pius XII Holy Week ceremonies and offices. So we at Preserving Christian Publications decided to put together a book just for Holy Week that would include the chants and melodies for all the offices, ceremonies and Masses of that week. Thus our new Holy Week Gregorian Chant Book was born. (Or if you prefer the Latin title we gave it: Liber Hebdomadae Sanctae Cantus Gregoriani). This new Holy Week book was made by taking out those parts of the 1962 LIber Usualis that pertain to the entire week, beginning with the restored Palm Sunday ceremonies up to and including the Easter Vigil. Thus, parishes with those interested in doing the offices of the Sacred Triduum, for example, can find this book most valuable in singing those offices on the last 3 days of Holy Week. And all the other sung ceremonies can be found in this book as well. We believe that this 244 page book is smaller, more useful and more affordable for Holy Week than the larger Liber Usualis. As far as the composition of our new Holy Week book, we have had it made in the traditional way with sewn signatures and bound in a durable hard cover for an extended lifetime of use. One ribbon marker has been inserted in this book as a speedy reference locator. All the music is in Gregorian notation with the rubrics in English. [NEW].

Isaaci Jogues, Joannis de Brebeuf et Sociorum Martyrum. The Catholic churches' liturgical handbook of Gregorian Chant. The Liber was first edited in 1896 by Solesmes Abbot Dom André Mocquereau (1849?1930). This 1,900-page book contains most versions of the ordinary chants for the Mass (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei), as well as the common chants for the Divine Office (daily prayers of the Church) and for every commonly celebrated feast of the Church year?including more than two hundred pages for Holy Week alone?as practiced prior to the 1969 liturgical reforms of Pope Paul VI. An extensive introduction explains how to read and interpret the medieval musical notation (square notation of neums or neumes). A complete index makes it easy to find specific pieces. 1963 edition (according to the 1962 rubrics) 2336 pages (with proper feasts for USA dioceses) red edges/6 ribbons This reprinting that we brought out was the last printing of the Liber Usualis before the changes in the liturgy took place a few years after the Second Vatican Council. Our reprinted edition is from 1963 with the 1962 rubrics which are in English and not in Latin, as some of the more recent printings have been. We have kept the original Gregorian notation for the chant. Our newly reprinted edition is sewn with a hardback cloth black binding, This binding is reinforced at the hinges of the book and includes durable end sheets for long lasting use. This book shouldn t fall apart, in other words, after a year or two of constant or daily use. The spine and the cover are stamped with the name of the book in a Gothic script. Six colored ribbon markers are included in this edition as well as red edges to avoid unsightly finger print marks to show up after being used for a while. The actual paper is a cream white color so as to hide the back side of the page that may cause excessive shadows of notes from the other side to show through. We reprinted this book on thin paper so as to reduce the size or bulk of the book. We used real ink in the printing of the book. We have added on the last pages of this edition a supplement for the "Mass of the Immaculate Heart of Mary" (celebrated on the 22nd of August); that is, we have added the tract to be said during Septuagesima season & Lent; and we have added the extra Alleluia to be said during the Easter season in place of the gradual. This addition was made at the request of those who use this Mass as a votive Mass during the liturgical year since these additions are not in the original Liber Usualis. Also, we have updated the table of moveable feasts. The table is current up to the year 2051. Otherwise, this edition is an exact reprint of the original. [NEW].

Condition: Gebraucht - Sehr gut.
