PO name in ink inside cover, foxing is uniform around edges, and fades away after about 1/2", typical for a tome of this paper acidity and age. Square, tight, clean, and no odors. No DJ. Printed by R. and R. Clark of Edinburgh. A very good set of hardbacks with dark green leather spine and corners. The leather is sunned to brown on spine. Spines with raised bands, morocco title labels and gilt motifs to panels. With green linen over boards. With mild bumping and wear. All volumes are soundly bound. With gilt top edge to text block. Three of the volumes have the gilt armorial crest of Eton College to the front and rear cover and feature a different, but complementary emblem to the spines. One of these volumes also carries an Eton prize presentation label to the first pastedown. Some offsetting to borders of marbled endpapers opposite the leather, and occasional light spotting. Text pages are generally in near fine condition - clean and bright throughout. A very smart set indeed. Text in English. Dimensions: Each volume approx 205mm high x 136mm wide x c.30mm deep. This run lacks just four volumes from the complete set: A Kipling Anthology: Prose; A Kipling Anthology: Verse; Souvenirs of France & Thy Servant a Dog. Most volumes are reprints from the late 1920s but there are some first editions (in any format) included. Complete sets are very uncommon due to the long publishing history and the fact that, though it is called a Uniform Edition, it was never sold new as a set. Someone has clearly spent years putting this together.

Twenty six volumes. Small 8vo. Publisher's limp burgundy leather, spines richly gilt with a circular gilt devices repeated to the upper covers, some volumes with the neat original owner's signature to the front free endpaper. A bright and notably well preserved set. Macmillan's uniform pocket edition was published over a long period of time and seldom comes complete, this volume comprises all those listed on the verso of the half titles except "Songs from Books". Nor does it include any volumes of Kipling's verse which, although not listed, often appear in this format.

Burwash edition, limited edition, no. 566 of 1,010 sets, twenty-eight volumes, signed by Kipling in volume I, 8vo. Portrait frontispiece in volume I, front endpapers in nine volumes stuck or partially stuck together. Modern maroon morocco over the original maroon buckram, t.e.g., upper cover to volume 4 with some damp stain and wear, and also to the upper cover of volume 27 to a lesser extent.

The Bombay Edition, one of only 500 possible complete sets signed by the author on the half-title. The Bombay edition was initially published in 20 volumes and limited to 1,000 copies. Kipling continued to write and the edition eventually grew to 31 volumes, but the last 11 volumes were limited to 500 copies only. Because later volumes were issued separately and at a lower limitation, complete sets such as this one are rare. 31 vols, octavo. Attractively bound in recent burgundy morocco, green morocco labels, centre tool to spines gilt, raised bands, roll to boards, gilt, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Mild partial toning to a couple of the half-titles, an excellent set.

Half dark purple morocco over mauve cloth boards. Five raised bands with gilt compartments. Marbled endpapers. Top edge gilt. Some wear to heads and tails, as well as to the raised bands, predominantly to Vol. XXI (see image). Moderate wear to corners and hinges, while all remaining intact. Clean interiors with no previous owners' names or other defacements. 6.75 x 9.75 in each (17 x 25 cm).

Condition: good. Name written inside the front cover and on dedication page. Some shelf, storage or usage wear visible. The binding is tight and all pages are present. Missing dustjacket.
