The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci were compiled, edited and translated by Jean Paul Richter in 1883, they include hundreds of pages of notes written by the mysterious Renaissance master, including sketches, lists of books he read, and financial records. Much of his notes are detailed studies and astute observations of the natural world, including the flight of birds, mechanics, the flow of rivers, architecture, astronomy, anatomy et al.
