In 1971 Denise travelled to Moscow for the International Writer's Conference, and there she meet the Vietnamese novelist Nguyen Cong Hoan, whom she was particularly pleased to meet (according to her diary); and whom said to her, 'We are of one heart.' She would later dedicate her poem 'Modes of Being' to him. The inscription is Dated 1/11/72 and signed by Hoan. 267pp., with author's biography, and editors notes. Illustrated cover with flaps, and 6 b/w drawings throughout. Moderate shelfwear, else a nice copy overall.
