First Edition Signed
Hardcover. First Edition. 43 pages. 9-3/4 by 13-1/4 inches. Introduced and retold by Stafford who would go on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Color illustrations by Sandro Nardini. First editon (first printing). Illustrated green boards. Some wear to corners, and spine ends bumped and scuffed, thus a very good copy; no dust jacket. Interesting inscription by the author to a noted bookseller on the title page, inserting the word 'Mountain' before 'Lion' in the printed title, so that it reads 'The Mountain Lion and the Carpenter greet Burt Britton.Jean Stafford with help from A. J. Liebling.' Journalist Liebling was Stafford's husband from 1959 until his death in 1963. Interestingly, Stafford published a book titled 'The Mountain Lion' fifteen years later.
