First Ardizzone editions, Steamroller signed by the author on the title page. Edward Ardizzone illustrated numerous children's classics, including Stig of The Dump and the Nurse Matilda books. The Little Train (1946) was first published under the name of the original illustrator and Greene's lover, Dorothy Craigie, and was not credited to Greene until the 1950s. 4 works, oblong quarto. Colours bright, rubbing to board extremities, Steamroller lightly foxed, Fire Engine boards a little splayed; jackets edge-worn, creased, and with occasional faint marks, a little loss to head of Fire Engine spine, Steamroller jacket price-clipped and with publisher's price label, the rest unclipped: very good copies in like jackets.
