Tightly bound with faint thumb-marking throughout. Boards have light edgewear with corner crushing and mild marking to boards. Notable sunning to board edges and spine, which has mild crushing to ends. Mild water stains and droplets to boards. Book has forward lean. Boards are mildly warped.

Fascinating account from a former test pilot of his work in important development & training aspects of aviation in the Fleet Air Arm during the early '50s and in the aftermath of lessons from the 2nd World War. 151 pages printed on blue boards bearing signs of wear & tear and some light fading. B. & w. photos, (the Ark Royal and the aeroplanes 'Albacore' and 'Swordfish' among others). Contents are clean and tidy but the first photo illustration and page 15 have small cellotape repairs to small tears at the bottom of the pages. The left f.e.p. has a plate from T.S. Arethusa, indicating that the book was awarded as a prize to 'L. Phillips' for being '1st in Signals'. The right of the f.e.p. bears creases to the bottom right. Additional loose-leaf items include headed note-paper from an address in Bracknell, with the name and address of L-C. Lithgow and Cdr Campbell Lithgow. The 2nd item/s are fragments of the dust-wrapper, which are in pieces, but do include the summaries from the front and rear flaps, which are readable. This book is thus sold without a viable dust-jacket. 8vo.
