Extending/ folding wood-engraved frontispiece, hand coloured, with 20 figures. No half title or endpapers, title page is the first page. No date but BL suggests 1820 and they also suggest that the author is Badcock (the Preface is signed 'J. B.') Original publisher's printed and illustrated cloth (The long title with decoration at sides, the rear cover has an advert for the companion volume Philosophical Recreations, Or Domestic Amusements.) The pine has been rebacked with modern sand coloured cloth unettered and decently done. The covers are a little rubbed and scuffed and slightly marked, the exquisite folding hand coloured plate of technical apparatus, camera obscura etc., for amusements is in excellent condition.
