Robert Orben(1927 2023) was an American magician, comedy, and political speech writer. Orben wrote many books, most of which were collections… of gags and "one-liners" originally written for his newsletter,Orben's Current Comedy. He was also a joke writer for comics such as Dick Gregory, Red Skelton, and Jack Paar. Magicdotes is a book of "anecdotes and stories about magic, magicians, and mentalists." Orben later became involved with politics, eventually becoming headspeechwriterto Vice PresidentGerald R. Ford in 1973.
