Original marbled endpapers restored at gutters. Dedicatory inscription to blank front endpage dated 1868. Printed by Mercier and Chervet. Frontis (portraits of Walton, Cotton, and Hawkins), additional engraved t.p., 15 full-page plates (inc 2 plates of musical notation) and numerous in-text engravings by Philip Audinet: the Advertisement to the Seventh Edition at front of vol. notes that ''these are not copied from former plates, but have been engraven after the original drawings of Mr. Wale, and other original pictures'', with the in-text illus of fish ''actual portraits of Fish which have been recently captured'' (pp. v-vi); Satchell and Westwood call these ''finely finished, and faithful'' and ''the best associated, hitherto, with the work'' (The chronicle of the "Compleat angler" of Izaak Walton and Charles Cotton, 1883, p. 40).
