Ex-libris with light foxing and stamp on title page, lightly rusted staples, pen mark on front wrap, else very good. Mabe was born in Japan in 1924 and moved to Brazil with his family at age 10. Along with a group of artists, he re-established the Seibi-Kai collective to support Japanese Brazilian art. He was named the Best National Painter at the 1959 São Paulo Biennial.
