The outer edge of the jacket is creased and on its verso there's a small damp stain on the spine's tail; there's an ownership signature and gift inscription on front end paper; the back end paper has a minor loss to the lower, outer edge and all the end papers are very lightly damp damaged, but not stained. Brady'. Very good condn. Mannix was the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne. E. J. (Edwin James) Brady was an Australian poet and author of Australia Unlimited. This work on Dr Mannix was the first in an intended series of biographies of eminent people in Australia. The idea was originally devised by Arthur Harry Stubbs (to whom this book is inscribed by E.J. Brady), and was to be titled 'Libary of National Biography'. Mannix was the only biography published. Brady also collaborated with Stubbs on a planned motion picture series, which led to the establishment of the Australian Film Publicity Proprietary [nla archives].

Limited Edition. Oblong octavo, [16pp]. Brown cloth tri-fold chemise, original paper wraps with rear panel affixed to board. Title stamped in black to spine, stamped in blind on front. Spine bound in calf, solid text block. Stated on colophon: "This edition of LONGHORN is limited to 200 copies only, printed and bound for Donald L. Evans. This is #68." Inscribed on rear of title page: "To Colin - It was a high honor to serve the American people with a good friend and a distinguished public servant. This world is a better place because of you. This book is about the pride and spirit of America to a man who lives it everyday. Yours, Feb., 2005." Donald L. Evans served as the 34th Secretary of Commerce in the George W. Bush administration. A longtime friend of President Bush, he served as campaign chairman during the 2000 presidential campaign and served as Secretary of Commerce until his resignation in 2005. Colin Powell (1937-2021) served as the United States Secretary of State during the George W. Bush administration, the first African American to hold the post. He also served as National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan (1987-1989) and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1989-1993. Powell was discussed as a possible Republican presidential contender in 1996 and 2000, but he declined to run both times. He passed away in 2021, survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Alma Powell.
