Map of Aalst. Above, in the middle, the title in the cartouche: 'AELST'. On the top left the coat of arms of Flanders, on the top right the coat of arms of Aalst. Numbered lower right: 78. With inscription: 'ALOSTUM Flandriae Imperialis Caput.'This print was included in Guicciardini's 'Beschryvinghe van alle de Neder-landen, and…erssins ghenoemt Neder-Duytslandt ().' published in Amsterdam by Willem Janszoon Blaeu. The first edition was issued in 1612. Later editions appeared from 1648, published by Janssonius. Etching on paper; verso blanco; plate mark: 241 x 302 mm, total: 260 x 334 mm; vertical folding crease at center, some foldings on the most external margins, a small stain towards the bottom right corner not affecting the plate, otherwise in very good condition.
