Copy of The World newspaper for February 15, 1868. 4 pp. (of 12) The front page contains, in the middle two (of 6) columns, a map of the West Side of Manhattan. There is an article which occupies the rest of the front page which provides details of the plan to lay out and develop the West Side, as put forward by the Central Park Commissioners. The article is continued on page 4 of the paper, which is not present here. This is a piece which sheds quite a bit of light on the northward expansion on Manhattan Island in the 19th century.
