Stout small octavo in full marbled calf, spine ruled in gilt with gilt title and simple decorative tools (now much dulled). Gilt largely rubbed; short tear to the leather at crown and rubbing with moderate surface distress to the spine panel. Binding shaken, with a nearly full split in the text block mid-book (one cord still holding) and a partial split at the front between the second blank and the woodcut frontispiece. Rear endpages lacking. Contents with moderate age toning and spotting but generally legible throughout. Illustrated with numerous woodcuts, which appear to be complete. A solid candidate for restoration (re-sewing and rebacking) but still in readable condition as is. Fair only, with all faults.
