Kit Williams (illustrator). Limited edition of the painter's picture book, first published in 1979, which contained in the images and text a puzzle leading to buried treasure. The treasure was found in 1982, and this edition includes an introductory account of the discovery. No. 781 of 1000 printed copies, and signed by the author/illustrator. Contains several colour illustrations. Plastic wrapping shows some wear and marks but has protected the blue cloth board of the covers. Pages show slight discolouration at edges but illustrations are bright and unaffected. Rfep has blue crayon mark. Williams published three other books and was commissioned to create three public clocks with elaborate mechanisms and moving parts, such as animals, for visual interest. This copy is number '850' of an edition of 1000 copies (the first 100 of which were not for sale).
