ALSO INCLUDES A DRAWING OF A STICK-FIGURE MAN, IN MAX ERNST'S HAND, near the 2 signatures, SEPARATING THE "MAX" FROM THE "ERNST". A very solid copy to boot of the 1958 1st edition of this impressive monograph on Max Ernst, with an abundance of illustrations (a handful of them in color) supplementng Patrick Waldberg's text. Tight and VG+ in its beige cloth, with a bit of light staining to the upper front panel and spine crown, and very mild, subtle bowing at the front panel. Square quarto, photographs by Lee Miller, Frederic Sommer, etc. Very uncommon as such, graced with Max Ernst's signature and a tiny original sample of his art. Signed.

EXEMPLAIRE de Roger CAILLOIS enrichi d'un envoi a.s. de Patrick Waldberg: "à Roger Caillois, savant décrypteur de nos Jeux, en hommage amical" et d'un envoi de Max Ernst avec un dessin de deux petits personnages, au stylo bille, "à Roger Caillois et Alena". On joint une lettre autographe signée de Dominique Roger à Alena Caillois, datée 25/1/79.
