Contemporary dark brown cloth blind-stamped boards with black leatherette spine; board edges worn particularly at corners; spine chipped at ends with slender losses, scuffing, and slight splitting at both front and rear joints; spine's gilt lettering dulled but legible. Toning/foxing to leaves; past owner's incorrect pencil notation regarding edition at top of front free endpaper; likely 1860s-1870s Milwaukee, Wisconsin bookseller ticket for J. Yallop [James Yallop] at front pastedown's top left. Binding is firm.

Hard Cover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Almost one hundred fifty years old this book's binding is still fully intact. At the top and bottom edges of the cover there is a bit of wear. Water marks are found throughout the book, the worst toward the front (especially the front end pages). The previous owner's initials are drawn in blue and there are two triangles less than an inch tall and two indistinguishable figures drawn in pencil on the front end papers. The book is black and the spine is engraved with a decorative pattern. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
