The issue, a softcover publication, contained articles, illustrations, and period advertisements catering to a male audience, with one variant featuring a cover illustration of Dean Acheson. In addition to the magazine itself, the date also aligns with several historical events in 1952, such as the abdication of King Talal of Jordan, the execution of Soviet Jewish poets, and Japan and West Germany joining the IMF and World Bank. The Lynmouth flood disaster also occurred on August 15, 1952.
