Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Hardcover. Red cloth with silver lettering on spine. Binding good and tight. No date on title page. Copyright page dated 1965, stated eighth edition. 122 pages. Clean throughout. This copy inscribed on the front endpaper, 'Lincoln Brower with best wished from E.B. Ford, in memory of my visit in April 1969.' A wonderful association copy, from the Brower collection. Ford is best remembered for his work on evolution and genetics, and is forever linked to the famous peppered moth studies, which were carried out under his supervision (though not his project). Despite a long and celebrated career at Oxford, books signed by Ford are vanishingly scarce. We've got a wonderful bookshelf of books from Lincoln Brower's collection listed here in our Brower catalogue. Everything you know about Monarch Butterflies, you know because of Brower's work, both scientific and outreach. He was a great teacher, an important researcher, a torch-bearing conservationist, and a leading light in lepidoptery. We are extremely excited to offer his books.
