Binnen een transactief raamwerk worden mensen en plaatsen gezien als betrokken bij een dynamische, wederkerige relatie waardoor thuis een plek van betekenisvolle persoonlijke betekenis wordt. Door middel van een kwalitatief kader onderzoekt deze studie de ervaring van oudere mensen die in de gemeenschap leven en die een thuisaanpassingsdienst ontvangen. Het onderzoekt de impact van het wijzigen van de fysieke omgeving op hun ervaring van thuis als een plek van betekenis en geeft inzicht in hoe aanpassingen aan het huis het huis als plek van persoonlijke en sociale betekenis kunnen versterken en de veiligheid en het comfort voor de oudere thuisgebruiker kunnen verbeteren.
