Il était un écrivain et traducteur français renommé, connu pour ses nombreuses traductions de l'espagnol et du portugais, ainsi que pour ses uvres littéraires variées. Il a reçu le prix Goncourt en 1908 pour son roman "Écrit sur de l'eau". En plus d'être romancier, il était également poète, essayiste, chroniqueur et critique. Miomandre a traduit des uvres d'auteurs célèbres tels que Miguel de Unamuno, Miguel de Cervantes et Machado de Assis. Il a passé une grande partie de sa vie à promouvoir la littérature hispanophone et a été proche de nombreux écrivains influents de son époque, comme André Gide et Paul Claudel. Son uvre est marquée par une grande diversité et une profonde influence de la culture hispanique.
