Russell was one of the first educators to advocate the word system of reading instructions instead of the the alphabet method, then the most common practice. Paper covered boards with 88 bright chromolithograph illustrations as well as many black and white illustrations. Only 5 libraries listed as holding this title in Worldcat. Cover is rubbed and chipped with bottom corner of back cover and pages rubbed with some loss. Front free endpaper missing a piece at the corner, black and white illustrations colored by a child, some pages are torn but none affecting the chromolithograph illustrations. Still, considering the age and the fact that it was used by a child, it is still in very good condition.…
