Softcover. Condition: Fine. Second edition of author's first book, and the first edition, first issue using this title, expanded with two extra pieces not found in the 1881 edition *BAL* 5726. Pictures by Hop. 16mo. 44pp. Brown pictorial wrappers. Text lightly foxed, covers have moderate wear on spine, slight chipping at top edge of first few pages, else a very good copy. Author's first book, published in 1881 as *Tribune Primer*, this 1882 edition has two extra pieces not contained in the 1881 edition. Seven Gables Bookshop, in their Catalogue 30 of "First Books," described the 1881 edition as "one of the top rarities in American literature." This 1882 edition is becoming increasingly scarce in the first issue, with the Brooklyn imprint, and especially in this condition.
