Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: See Description. 4 volumes, all First Editions. These volumes written by Janet and Stewart Farrar are from the library of the spiritual teacher Gary Charles Erbe (AKA Raven Grimassi, d. 2019) who also authored numerous books on witchcraft and magic. Each of these four volumes contains Erbe's embossed stamp,… either on the front free end paper, or on the half-title - "Library of Gary Charles Erbe GCE". Two of the volumes are INSCRIBED AND SIGNED by Janet Farrar to "Raven" (Gary Charles Erbe). "What witches do" (1971): 8vo (222 mm tall), pp. [12], 211, [1]. With 6 pages of black and white photo plates by Stewart Farrar. Diagrams included with the text. This is a review copy with a bookplate mounted on the front free end paper. INSCRIBED by Janet Farrar on the half-title: "To darling Raven. In memory of my beloved Stewart, nearly one year on he left us. Love Jan Farrar." This is probably a reference to Stewart Farrar's death in February of 2000. Some pen MARGINALIA is present on the 3rd page of photo plates where the word "CELLULOID" is handwritten below a photo of a nude woman, accompanied by a thin arrow line leading to the woman's backside. Lower corner tip of the text block is very slightly bumped. Bound in black cloth with dust jacket. "Eight sabbats for witches" (1981): 8vo (222 mm tall). 192 pages. With 16 pages of black and white photo plates by Ian David and Stewart Farrar. Line illustrations by Stewart Farrar also accompany the text. Bound in brown publisher's cloth with dust jacket. "The witches' way" (1984): 8vo (24 cm tall), pp. [12], 349, [1]. With 16 pages of black and white photo plates. Line illustrations by Stewart Farrar accompany the text. INSCRIBED by Janet Farrar on the half-title: "To Raven Blessed Be Love Jan Farrar." This is followed by a simple cartoon of a cat with pentagram and possibly another signature. Bound in black publisher's cloth with dust jacket. "The witches' god" (1989): 8vo (242 mm tall), pp. vi, [4], 278. With 16 pages of black and white photo plates. Line illustrations by Stewart Farrar accompany the text. Bound in red publisher's cloth with dust jacket. The dust jackets for each volume (except for "The witches' god") ARE COVERED WITH CLEAR MATTE PLASTIC CONTACT PAPER. A minor spot of bumping is present on the bottom edge of the front board to each volume. Practicing British witches Janet and Stewart Farrar helped make available to the world the practices of modern witchcraft (Wicca) including those of Gerald Gardner, Doreen Valiente and Alex Sanders. "What Witches'Do" records the activities of a modern witches' coven based on the practice of Alex Sanders. Rituals, invocations, and initiation rites are described. "Eight Sabbats" offers detailed rituals for the seasonal festivals - Imbolg, Spring Equinox, Bealtaine, Midsummer, Lughnasadh, Autumn Equinox, Samhain, Yule, as well as the framing rites and others. "The Witches' Way" gives the First-, Second- and Third-Degree initiation rites, the rites of consecration and other passages from the "Book of Shadows." "The Witches' God" discusses the concept of the male god, examines 12 gods from history and offers a directory of over 1,000 gods from various cultures. Shipping will cost extra due to the weight of 4 volumes. Photos are available on request. Signed by Author(s).

Condition: Very good. - Letter penned in blue ink and filling 1-1/4 sides of a sheet of her 11-inch high by 8-3/8-inch wide personalized letterhead with her name & address printed at the top. Signed "Jean Erdman". The corners of the letter are lightly creased with a pinhole in the top left corner & the top right corner slightly…darkened. Folded twice for mailing. Very good. Erdman writes regretting that she is unable to attend Rugg's Wednesday Luncheon Forums at Teachers College of Columbia University. "I wish that I could manage to control my activities so that I would be free to participate in such interesting-sounding gatherings. When I talked with Mr. [Nik] Krevitsky a few weeks ago, I thought that my schedule would allow me to come, but since then I have discovered that Wednesdays must needs be used up in rehearsals with my dance company."The two greatest influences on dancer and choreographer Jean Erdman [b. 1916] were Joseph Campbell and Martha Graham. She married Campbell in 1938 and became a principal dancer in Martha Graham's company. She later toured the U.S. with her own company, and as a solo artist toured India and Japan, the first dancer to do so since World War II. In 1962 she began what was to become her best-known work, "The Coach with Six Insides", an adaptation of James Joyce's "Finnegan's Wake'".Harold Rugg [1886-1960] was a professor of education at Teachers College of Columbia University. A civil engineer, he became interested in how students learn and pursued a doctorate in education. He was responsible for producing the first series of school textbooks from 1929 until the 1940s.
