Illustrated with b&w photographs. 6.25" x 9.25". 260 pp. Green cloth, ink owner inscription on the endpaper. This is a companion to The Modern Setter. Chapters on the rise of the modern pointer, and the numerous families of pointers. "The scope of this book is to point out the leading lights of these different families and what they have accomplished toward making the pointer what he is today". This title is much harder to find than the book on the setter. Very good.

Hardcover. 8vo. 23cm, second edition (revised & enlarged), 260p., frontis, 24 illustrations, dark green ribbed cloth, gilt titles, bookplate, fine condition (gar). ~ First published in 1917, the second edition contains many entirely new chapters and many of the illustrations of prominent dogs appear for the first time. A classic on the pointer.
