In mathematicsthe modularity theorem (previously known as the Taniyama-Shimura-Weilconjecture and by several related names) establishes a connectionbetween elliptic curves over the field of rational numbers and modularforms. It was fully proved jointly by Christophe Breuil, Brian ConradFred Diamond, and Richard Taylor in 2001, borrowing many of thetechniques used in Andrew Wiles' proof of Fermat's Last Theorem. Themodularity theorem is a special case of more general conjectures due toRobert Langlands. The Langlands program seeks to attach an automorphicform or automorphic representation (a suitable generalization of amodular form) to more general objects of arithmetic algebraic geometrysuch as to every elliptic curve over a number field. Most cases of theseextended conjectures have not yet been proved.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The modularity theorem (previously known as the Taniyama Shimura Weil conjecture and by several related names) in mathematics establishes a connection between elliptic curves over the field of rational numbers and modular forms, both introduced in 19th century mathematics. This represents a significant bridge between two distinct areas of mathematics: algebra and analysis. It was fully proved jointly by Christophe Breuil, Brian Conrad, Fred Diamond, and Richard Taylor in 2001, borrowing many of the techniques used in Andrew Wiles' proof of Fermat's Last Theorem.
