Paper-covered chemise and slipcase, each illustrated with a design by Jean Lur?at. Type set by hand and printed on Grand V?lin D'Arches at the press of Jourde et Allard. All copies have been signed at the colophon by the president and the vice-president of the Soci?t? de Femmes Bibliophiles. A beautiful copy of the text by Jean-Henri Fabre (in French) taken from his Souvenirs Entomologiques. With 45 lithographs by Jean Lur?at, many in color. Three of those have been hand-colored by the artist. Jean-Henri Casimir Fabre (1823?1915) was a French naturalist and entomologist. His Souvenirs Entomologiques were celebrated for their engaging style combined with their keen observation of the world of the insects. The British fancier of beetles, Charles Darwin, admired Fabre's work even though the great French naturalist did not embrace Darwin's theory of evolution. Some cracks and wear to slipcase and chemise; a few hints of foxing in margins; internally near fine. Reliure de l'éditeur signée Masnier, en percaline rouge décorée de noir et de dorures, dos un peu passé, coins un peu frottés, 4ème plat avec taches décolorées et un petit trou de ver, reliure se tient bien cependant. 3 tranches dorées.
