Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition (extra illustrated?). 7 plates, woodcuts to text, with 5 extra illustrations tipped-in(?) 4to. Publisher's original brown cloth, blind-tooled decorative borders to front & rear boards, gilt lettered to spine, some professional restoration to the backstrip and reinforcement to hinges neatly achieved, original endpapers retained, text block a little stiff with sporadic foxing affecting some plates & tissue guards, plates all present and correct, includes a further 5 engraved plates not listed in the contents (extra illustrations tipped in?), scenes of Jerusalem after engravings by Bartlett, Allom, Griffiths etc., titled as follows: "Modern Jerusalem", large folding plate, heavy foxing (pp.xvi-1); "Jews' Place of Wailing" (pp.16-17); "Pool of Ezechias" (pp.72-73); "The Golden Gate" (pp.98-99); "Church of the Holy Sepulchre", foxed (pp.152-153); overall a pleasing example of this uncommon work on the famous old city. xiv, 188pp. [plans].
