Ixion (illustrator). 1st Edition 1st Issue. a fine copy in the original brown cloth in the original rare dust jacket, pictorial dust jacket with the original price of 10 shillings 6 pence, on the front flap, under mylar brodart. that would be equivalent to 3 dollars US at the time. With 32 photo gravures of cycles, races and famous figures, a Bible for English and European bikes, and mention of Indian and Harley. Features Norton and Triumph rare in dust jacket, signed by the first owner on fhe front fly leaf. else fine and very good dj. Ixion is a nom de plume. for the famed Canon Basil H. Davies B.A. a famed priest of the Anglican church who contributed to Motor cycle journals from 1902 on, and took his nom de plume from the Ixion motor cycle company who were early pioneers of the modern Motorcycle. first invented in 1884. A fine author, the bible of the Ride. For almost six decades, an Anglican priest provided inspiration and advice to generations of British and colonial motorcyclists. In his weekly articles, Ixion's "Occasional Comments," appearing in The Motor Cycle (one of the foremost motorcycling periodicals), he provided an insight into the movement; his rather secretive persona belying an in-depth knowledge gained by dealings at grass-roots levels with those involved in the industry and through being involved in the sport since it began in the previous century.
