Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. University of Chicago Press, Chicago, IL. 1971. 383 pages. First edition, first printing. Book is fine; bright, tight and clean. Binding and hinges are strong. Pages and endpapers are bright and clean. Beige cloth panels are bright and clean. A touch of foxing along top page edges otherwise FINE. Original uncommon DJ shows minimal minor soiling with a touch of sunning. Author Valerius Geist, arguably the world's greatest zoologist of North American large mammals, has written over twenty books on large mammals and their behavior. Presented here is his first book, and doctoral thesis: Mountain Sheep: A Study in Behavior and Evolution. Of little surprise, it is considered the definitive account of Mountain Sheep scholarship.
