Illustrated Wrappers. Condition: Poor. No Jacket. 16mo (6x5 inches). Pp. 71 [6] ads. Wood-engraved frontispiece and title, and wood-engraved illustration to every page. Every multiplication has a little rhyme (e.g. 6 times 9 are 54, My little boat has come ashore). Cover, with color lithograph illustration, is detached, chipped,… and mended with tape. All five signatures have come unsewn. Still, it's complete, and very scarce.

A clever book teaching multiplication with a focus on boys. Illustrations of boys walking with books slung on their backs, swinging on ropes, hats in a cloakroom, playing cricket, and pictures of ships at sea. A humorous illustration titled "Twice TWELVE are TWENTY-FOUR / Old Ladies drinking Tea." features the silhouette of a woman appearing to be a witch on the curtains.
