Seller: AB-strict Art Commerce JP, Osaka-city, OSAKA, Japan
Soft cover. Condition: Good. 22x16.5cm. Japanese style bound. 26 woodblock print postcards are attached. From the Taisho to the Showa period, there was a culture in which hobbyists from all over Japan created their own woodblock prints and postcards and exchanged these works within their groups. The Osaka Biyo-kai was one such group, and although no detailed records of their activities remain today, the postcards they produced are still traded on the market by researchers and collectors, and traces of their activities are being studied. The stamp on the cover of this collection indicates that it is a "July 12, Showa 6 [1931], First Exhibition Commemoration" collection. The title "Naniwa Joucho" means something like "Nostalgia of Osaka," and the design of the postcards is also associated with Osaka's landmarks and culture. While it is not unusual for individual postcards to appear in the market, it is rare for a set like this to appear. The postcards are generally in good condition, with some deterioration such as staining and tanning.
