Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. PEARL S. BUCK THE CHILD WHO NEVER GREW 1950 3RD PRINTING HARD COVER SIGNED CARD TIPPED IN. I was well aware of Pearl S. Buck and her life as a prolific writer and also of her commitment and activism on behalf of many progressive causes. I did not know, however, that she had a special needs child at a time when there were not the means or programs there are today to cope with these situations. This is her story and that of her child. The book is titled: The Child Who Never Grew, by Pearl S. Buck. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ½ inches, 64 pages) was published by John Day Company of New York, dated 1950 and the Third Impression (so stated). This book is bound in sky blue boards with silver gilt titles on the cover. There is a tipped-in paper with Ms. Buck s inked signature on the front endpaper. The book and all that it would yield was assigned by her to the Training School at Vineland, N.J. where her daughter was eventually interned. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are clean, bright and unbumped and the silver gilt titles are still handsome and attractive. There was a small tear to the top of the front gutter which has apparently been fixed- the only real blemish. Inside, the book is unmarked except for the card with the Author s signature and the interior pages are bright and clean throughout without age-toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Signed by Author.
